Abstract
Objective: To assess the anxiety level of caregivers of children with congenital talipes equinovarus and to determine the gender difference in the care givers for developing anxiety level. Methodology: This is cross sectional study and 60 caregivers were recruited through purposive sampling. The demographics were recorded through self administrated questionnaire and a standardized Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HAM-A) for the assessment of severity of anxiety level was used. Results: Out of 60 participants, 31 (51.67%) were male and 29 (48.33%) females. The mean age of care givers was 29.70±7.12 years. The HAM-A anxiety score showed that the 36 (60%) care givers were in mild to moderate severity category, 20 (33.33%) in mild severity and 4 (6.67%) in moderately severe category. Conclusion: Majority caregivers had anxiety related with the diagnosis of children with congenital talipes equinovarus. Male and female had no difference in the severity of anxiety.
